Copenhagen: Regulation for Persons with Reduced Mobility at Copenhagen Airport

Copenhagen owned a world class transport system in Europe, providing extensive services of transportation to travelers and locals alike. Following this tradition of quality and excellence, Copenhagen Airport has introduced a new transport service scheme for the disabled person on 26 July 2008. To serve these special people who often faced mobility issues at the airport, authorities have instructed to give more assistance and help to disable persons.  From the airport to all the way to the final destination, the airport will provide help to disable persons such as approaching to metro stations or car parking or bus stop until they would get seated at the aircraft or reach their stop.
The European Union and Denmark both have encouraged this new wave that led to making efforts to help disable person at the airport. The rights and conditions of such passengers have been significantly improved afterward. An official regulation has also passed to adopt and complete this privileged service. In accordance to this regulation, airlines have to change some of their regular procedures of reserving tickets or boarding for impair people.



Airport Aviation may have some exception to comply this regulation due to security and safety issues but at the day end, things would be smooth and straight at a large extent. Passengers with reduced mobility are instructed to accompany by another person as it is demanded by airlines due their safety concerns. Airlines also refused to carry such passenger due to the size of aircrafts and cabin crew who are also less motivated to imply this regulation.
But, according to this regulation, airlines are instructed to provide five days’ notice of refusal if it would not cater the reservations of these passengers with less mobility. If someone is not accompanied that passengers in his traveling, then airline will have to notify that person about the conditions of traveling in such case. If any passengers with reduced mobility have come across such issue in which airlines have violated the regulation, he/she can bring this matter before the governing body of the relevant airport to sort things accordingly. If airlines or anyone at the airport mistreated disable person or the person with less mobility, then he can make a complaint to Danish Transport Authority for not getting satisfactory treatment.
